Environment, Safety, and Health Management

MEMC Korea employs environment, safety, and health (ESH) management to safeguard the 'happiness' of the organization and its workers.

In addition to minimizing the negative effects of company operations, such as lowering emissions of pollutants and averting safety mishaps, MEMC Korea aims to establish trustworthy environmental and safety management by fostering a positive work atmosphere.

Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) Policy

MEMC Korea has established an environment, safety (PSM), health, and energy (greenhouse gas) management systems (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14064-1:2018, ISO 50001:2018) and takes responsibility for all production activities and products. We are continuously managing and improving them to lower the environmental, safety, and health (ESH) impact of all production activities, products, and services.

01 Developing a management system for the environment, safety, and health based on risk and environmental impact assessments

  • Using pre-business environmental impact and risk assessment, accurately identify environmental and safety issues and create measures to mitigate them.
  • Design and operate facilities and processes based on the findings of the evaluation.

02 Determining and accomplishing objectives for ongoing enhancement

  • Identify areas that may be consistently improved in terms of safety and the environment, and set goals for improvement.
  • Monitor goal accomplishment and promote ongoing progress through regular assessments and performance measurement.

03 Complying with customer satisfaction and other requirements

  • Introduce procedures to satisfy client needs and abide by laws, regulations, and other relevant requirements.
  • Provide products and services while optimizing adherence to environmental and safety-related requirements and our own internal compliance policies.

04 Minimizing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions

  • Investigate methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through increased energy efficiency and take into account the usage of alternative energy sources.
  • Monitor and cut greenhouse gas emissions to minimize environmental effects and pursue eco-friendly management.

Environment, safety, and health (ESH) policy

MEMC Korea's Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) policy outlines principles and instructions for creating and preserving a safe and healthy work environment throughout the business.

Production activities and business facilities

Put employee health and safety first, establish a system to detect and prevent risks, and implement preventative actions through risk analysis. Moreover, enhance environmental management to reduce pollution in the environment and aim for resource efficiency.

Suppliers, service providers, and contractors

Prioritize safety and the environment in our relationships with partners and contractors, and take into account their safety and environmental management efforts when evaluating the performance of our partners. Share a safe working environment with our partner companies and collaborate on managing risk obligations and responsibilities.

Product distribution and logistics

Place a strong emphasis on safe packaging and transportation techniques during product distribution and logistics to prevent damage and leakage of products.
Strive to reduce any potential negative effects on the environment when traveling by using eco-friendly modes of transportation.

Waste management

Use safe disposal methods when disposing of waste, and apply and manage strict standards for the management of hazardous waste. Recycle resources in a proactive manner to cut waste and stop contamination of the environment.

Engineering and maintenance

Follow design principles that consider safety and environmental friendliness during the facility design and engineering stages, and implement safety procedures and technologies during maintenance work to ensure worker safety and environmental protection.

New project

When conducting a new project, examine and reduce the project's influence on the environment by undertaking an environmental impact assessment that takes safety and the environment into account from the very beginning of planning through the design and implementation phases. Use innovative technology and ideas to carry out the project in an ecologically responsible manner.

Environment, safety, and health (ESH) management system

MEMC Korea operates an ESH management system to enforce world-class environmental, safety, and health management in a uniform and coordinated way.
